Luigi Giusti Winery

The Luigi Giusti Winery tells a story of nearly a century of passion for Lacrima di Morro d’Alba, the signature grape variety of this corner of the Marche region. The history began in 1903 when Filippo Giusti, after a period as an emigrant in the United States, returned to Italy and purchased his first plot of land. That return to his roots sparked a family journey that, since the 1930s, has focused with absolute dedication on viticulture. In the 1950s, Luigi and Maria Giusti acquired the historic winery in Castelferretti, consolidating an agricultural project centered on the land, daily care, and grape quality. Today, Piergiovanni Giusti, alongside his wife Elena, carries forward the dream passed down by his father, renewing tradition with a new winemaking cellar and new vineyard plantings, always with the utmost respect for nature. The estate spans the hills of Castellaro, in the Municipality of Senigallia, within the Lacrima di Morro d’Alba DOC area: a unique landscape, nestled between the Adriatic Sea and the gentle rolling hills that shield it from northern winds. This terroir is home to 13 hectares of Lacrima vineyards, alongside 2.5 hectares dedicated to Verdicchio, Incrocio Bruni 54, and red grape varieties. The winery’s philosophy is simple and rigorous: to safeguard the territory through organic farming, respect the natural cycle of the vine, and harvest the grapes exclusively by hand in multiple passes, ensuring only the finest fruit reaches the cellar. The entire winemaking process takes place within the Castellaro estate facility—expanded in 2006—where modern technology dialogues with ancient savoir-faire. Every wine is a tribute to Luigi Giusti, his stubborn determination, and his deep bond with this land. And each bottle is crafted with a precise goal: to express the identity of Castellaro, the scent of its sea breeze, the authentic character of Lacrima, and the story of a family that continues to cultivate a dream born more than ninety years ago.
