La Penelope

At the end of the Levante pier is the Penelope, this icon, which has become an icon of love and romance for the entire city of Senigallia, was created by the artist Gianni Guerra and inaugurated on July 3, 2004.

The artist himself says that one evening he was at this point in the port of Senigallia and was looking out to sea when he noticed a small boat with one or two men on board that got lost in the fog and darkness of the night.

And this, this vision, gave him precisely the inspiration to reconnect with the episode told by Homer, immortalized by Homer in the Odyssey, of Penelope who waits so many years, patiently awaits the return of her beloved. So Penelope today is the symbol of patient love, the symbol of love that knows how to wait even a very long time before fulfilling its dream.

And today, many couples, many lovers come here to lock what has become the symbolic place of love and romance in Senigallia, with their romance and therefore hoping to continue this loving relationship, somehow blessed by Penelope of Senigallia.
